Georgia Edwards who has Rett's Syndrome lives with her family in Johnstown.  Her older brother Charlie is a pupil at Johnstown Junior School.

St Mary’s Church Johnstown decided to donate their Lent Appeal to a charity close to the hearts of the people of Johnstown by supporting the local charity – ‘Georgie Pie’s Brighter Future’

The church then decided to donate the money raised from their annual Cream Tea held in the summer.  At Christmas it was suggested that a special Christmas Tree be purchased and placed in the children’s corner of the church.  This was decorated with large brightly coloured baubles, with local businesses being approached to sponsor a bauble.

The response exceeded all expectations and the final total raised by sponsorship and donations was £2,187.  Bruce Jones, Treasurer of St Mary’s and Vicar Jackie Carter presented Georgia and her family with the cheque after Christmas.

A huge ‘thank you’ to parishioners and local businesses for their support for this local charity.
